Engaging with families during the pandemic to share resources, educate about continuing distance learning, and support parents

The epic approach:

Continued use of EPIC virtual space to engage families, connect parents to administrators and each other, educate parents about new and challenging mental health and academic challenges

The RESULTS:

Parents were empowered to share struggles across most aspects of distance learning and social emotional learning, for themselves and their children; parents shared personal growth and what tips were going to be useful for their families; parents appreciated the content tailored for their school

Creating a virtual space that encourages and educates parents to prepare for fall 2020

The RESULTS:

Parents find support in fellow parents and from instructors about dealing with social and emotional challenges as well as tips for student success

Creating a shared space with site admin that encourages and educates parents.

The RESULTS:

Parents experience career exploration process and understand middle school obstacles and tools to support students.

Lack of connection between secondary schools and potential industry career pathways.

Collaboration between schools and local government/nonprofit to connect industry with future workforce. 

The RESULTS:

Delayed due to pandemic.
